Breakages
Breakages must be reported immediately. Leaving a breakage for even a short amount of time can significantly Increase overall Treatment time, as phase of treatment may not be able to be implemented at your next appointment because of the breakage. Or even worse your treatment may go back to where it was months before
Breakages include: Loose bands, braces which have fallen off, broken or bent wires and which have come out of the braces
Due to the volume of after school appointments, it is often impossible to repair breakages after school hours. A special time is set aside everyday during school hours for any repairs of problems.
Should you arrive for your normal appointment with an unreported breakage, time will not have been allowed for the repair and you will be asked to arrange another appointment so that other patients appointments are not compromised.
NB: After a breakage always notify your orthodontist as soon as possible so they can try and work around other appointments and make more time available for you to fix your breakage. Whether it is the day before your scheduled appointment or a few weeks always contact your orthodontist as soon as possible.
